I look forward to sharing my love of languages, and my expertise in them, with you or your child. Please visit my website to watch a presentation in French; videos of French and English lessons; and a video interview concerning elocution.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
French, German, Spanish and English as a Foreign Language; Elocution and spoken English; and 11+ and 13+ exams.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a 2:1 in Modern Languages (French and German) from University College, Oxford. I am also a qualified Modern Languages teacher with a PGCE from King's College, London. I gained 3 'A's at A-Level in English, French and German from Bancroft's School, and a 'Merit' in S-Level German. I speak with Received Pronunciation (Oxford English).
What kind of experience do you have?
I taught for some time in a state secondary school in East London, in addition to undertaking a short period of supply teaching. I have lived in both France and Germany, and I have recently been working on a translation of a seventeenth-century classic French text. I have also undertaken one-to-one coaching in addition to classroom teaching. I am also experienced in public recitation.
How much do you charge?
As an Oxford University graduate and qualified teacher, I charge £50 per hour for French and German coaching, and £40 per hour for all other subjects.
Where do you teach?
In London, I am available to teach in Kensington, Holland Park, Chelsea, Belgravia, Hammersmith, Highgate, Hampstead, Gospel Oak, Crouch End, Bloomsbury, WC1, WC2, WC3, WC4, EC1, EC2, EC3, EC4, E1, SE1, SE16, Docklands, Southwark, Rotherhithe, Lewisham, Wanstead, Leytonstone, Walthamstow and similar areas. In Essex, I will teach in Barking, Dagenham, Ilford, Stratford, Hornchurch, Upminster, Romford, Basildon, Wickford, Shenfield, Colchester, Chelmsford and Tendring (comprising Clacton and other coastal towns).
When are you available?
I am available from Mondays to Fridays as follows: Mondays and Tuesdays 0800-1430; Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 0800-2000.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach Key Stages 1-5 (ages 5-18). As a qualified secondary school teacher, my principal areas are Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-Level. However, I have recently undertaken training and classroom observations in the primary/preparatory phase in order to be able to teach Key Stages 1-2 effectively. My current pupils range in age from a talented 5-year-old French pupil to a gentleman to whom I am teaching elocution.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
KS1, KS2, KS3, GCSE, A-Level, University.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
