Personal Message
Vocal coaching from the UK's only Brett Manning Associate. Singers of all abilities and experiences are welcome.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I am a vocal coach/singing teacher specialising in pop/rock and musical theatre (in which I have a masters degree).
Tell me about your qualifications.
Masters Degree in Musical Theatre Performance; Certified Brett Manning Associate; Actors Temple (Meisner Acting Technique) full-time 16 week course.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been lucky enough to work with, and learn from the world’s best voice teachers. My journey as a vocal coach began working with Brett Manning in Nashville, Tennessee where I became a Brett Manning Associate vocal coach. While in Nashville I worked with some of the best commercial vocal coaches in the world and spent time in the recording studio with artists working on albums with Grammy Award nominated producers. Over the years, I have also worked with Maureen Scott, Gillyanne Kayes and Jeremy Fisher, Ron Morris and classically with Ann De Renais and the Maestro himself, David Jones in New York. I now have an established private practice where I teach one on one. I also have experience teaching vocal technique to pop/rock/musical theatre choirs.
As a performer, since graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (Now RCS), I have been a working actor/singer and appeared in productions such as the national tour of Dundee Rep’s Sunshine on Leith (The Proclaimers Musical) and most recently the European tour of Evita (Bill Kenwright Ltd.) I know what it’s like to be a touring performer/singer and can relate to the difficulties in maintaining your voice through long rehearsal processes and performance schedules in many countries all over the world.
How much do you charge?
1 lesson - £50
5 lesson package - £225
10 lesson package - £400

1 lesson = 1 hour
Where do you teach?
I teach at home in Stoke Newington which is in North London (Zone 2). The nearest tube station is Finsbury Park. The nearest overgrounds are Dalston Junction/Kingsland or Stoke Newington Station.
When are you available?
I teach mornings, afternoons and evenings Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings and afternoons.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages from beginner to professional.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Lessons are tailored to what the individual student requires.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
No
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
A large portion of my students take lessons over Skype. Booking is the same as face to face lessons, skype names are swapped and a call is made at the booked lesson time. Lessons through skype are prepaid.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a Brett Manning Associate and affiliate of Singing Success.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I’ve worked with many different artists from different genres including rock, pop, r&b, country, musical theatre (in which I have a Masters degree). I have clients who have starred in Warner Brothers Films; performers in the West End in We Will Rock You, Legally Blonde, The Lion King and Mamma Mia; performers in the touring productions of Quadrophenia and Laughter in the Rain (Bill Kenwright Ltd). A large portion on my books are commercial singer/songwriters as well as people in cover/function bands, cabaret performers and young people who want a career as a performer. I teach beginners to professionals.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Time and time again I hear singers talk about years of lessons with little or no progression and a lot of wasted money!! I strongly believe that each person requires individual training tailored to their specific needs as a vocalist/performer. Through building a solid technique anyone can become the singer that they want to be. What’s the secret? There IS no secret! All I need is your commitment to changing your voice for the better for GOOD! Check out my vocal instructional videos on my website to get a taster of the training you will be getting.
