Euphonium

Whilst studying at University, I seemed to notice this ‘superiority’ of orchestral brass instruments over brass band instruments. For example, if you play the Trombone or Tuba (which features in both ensembles), why would you want to play in a brass band? Or, why would you want to play the Cornet over the Trumpet? Or worse still, why would you chose to play the Tenor Horn, Baritone or Euphonium over and orchestral instrument?

Now I am not trying to expand this divide between brass instruments, but instead look into why there is this separation in the first place and to show that brass band instruments are not limited to what they can do. This does not just apply to the Euphonium; I believe it is true throughout the rest of the instruments.
