About Stephen
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have worked with over 600 children as a successful and well-regarded class teacher as well as helping many independently with individual tuition. Since helping children individually, I have enjoyed helping students achieve in maths and English.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an up to date CRB from July 2013.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I work with a wide range of students at the moment. These range from a talented young drummer, some enthusiastic and ambitious 11+ candidates as well as a range of Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils looking for a little boost. It's great!

After more than 20 years of Primary teaching, I really enjoy helping every person achieve their very best. Working with me on key areas, my students make amazing progress! Sometimes that little extra is all that's needed to reach the stars!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English, maths, 11+ tuition as well as beginners' drumming.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a a BA with honours and a PGCE.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £20 for local tuition. I will teach drums from home for £15.
- Where do you teach?
I will teach both at home and also visit houses as required.
- When are you available?
I have Friday evenings free at the moment. It is the ideal slot for some 11+ tuition or some maths catch up work.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I work with students of many age groups. My main experience is with Key Stage 2 but I work successfully with adults and Key stage 1 and 3 students too.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I provide tuition for the 11+ and Key Stage 2 SATs. I have also taught Level 1 City and Guilds.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I would use email with attachments to set and respond to activities. Furthermore, I am willing to use Skype and also Dropbox to aid video tuition. I love trying new technical ideas!
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I will work with you to help make sense of the things you find hard. What we cover will be exactly what I think you will need. Our sessions will be fun as well as hard working and you will feel your confidence and ability grow with each session.
