- Tell me about some of your current students.
I have tutored and am still tutoring many children for the 7+, 8+ and 11+ exams. Past pupils have gained entry to top London schools including St Paul's, Westminster, City of London, King's College School, Latymer Upper, Godolphin & Latymer and Dulwich. My current pupils are aiming for many of these schools as well as schools such as Sussex House, Wetherby School, Westminster Cathedral Choir School and Newton Prep. Most of my pupils are either at state schools or at non-selective independent schools and therefore need that extra help to give them the best chance to get into London's most competitive schools. Currently I am also tutoring children who are not working towards exams but are struggling in English at their current schools. I teach many children who speak English as a second or additional language and who therefore need additional help with their comprehension skills and vocabulary. Currently, my youngest pupil is 5 and my oldest is 11 and I have pupils working towards all three main entrance exams.

- Do you have a personal message for students?
I am fortunate enough to have been a very popular teacher throughout my adult life. I am extremely passionate about teaching, but just as interested in my pupils and in devising personalised teaching methods to suit each individual's needs and personality. I believe that a warm, trusting and fun relationship between teacher and child is of paramount importance to boost pupils' learning. I focus on ways of creating the most fun and stimulating lessons possible for each child, which is why I spend as much time preparing lessons as I do teaching them! I have always loved teaching, have always been told by pupils and parents alike that I am a natural - but what I especially enjoy is working with children. I've been a published author of teenage fiction at Penguin Random House for ten years now. I've had six novels published which have won awards both here and abroad and have been translated into eight different languages. I am currently working on my seventh novel. I have always maintained that however successful my books might become, I would never want to give up teaching as I thrive on this career and am still in touch with pupils I taught nearly twenty years ago! I insist that every new pupil begins with a trial lesson as I strongly believe that it's of vital importance that a child feels comfortable and gets on with the teacher in order to maximise their learning potential. I have a certificate in child psychology and also like to work on the psychological aspect of learning - by focusing on trust, self-confidence, a have-a-go attitude and strong self-motivation. I have been very fortunate to have a wonderful relationship with every one of my pupils so far in my career and I have a large box of Thank You cards and letters that I treasure.

Tabitha was an outstanding tutor for my son. She was patient and encouraging, and helped him in all areas in English. She supported him in comprehension, helping him learn the tools he needed to pass his exam. She is dedicated and caring, and develops strong relationships with her pupils. She manages to successfully prepare her pupils for rigorous exams without putting them off the subject! We have used a number of tutors for our children but Tabitha has been by far the best. Highly recommended!
Tabitha has tutored our 10-year-old son for an entire school year with great success. Sessions with Tabitha are focused and kind. She is patient and observant. She establishes a joyful and productive learning environment. Our son has really enjoyed working with her and they have developed an amazing relationship which was also very important and extremely beneficial for him. We have nothing but positive things to say about her and are fully committed to her as an English tutor for our son.
We have seen our 8-year-old improve dramatically in just a year with Tabitha. He has gone from hating story-writing to now enjoying it and writing for pages. This is due to the connections that Tabitha builds - she has made such a positive difference. My son has now so improved that he scored 30% higher than the national average and was put moved to the top group. All this in 1 hour a week! Tabitha has been a real find - the methods she uses to teach and explain cannot be done without great experience.
Tabitha taught my son in the run-up to the 8+. He was initially a reluctant writer but really enjoyed his first lesson with Tabitha, saying how it seemed shorter than an hour and he never objected going to his weekly lessons. Tabitha's lessons were fun but also well planned, covering grammar, story-writing, comprehension and VR. The materials she provided for homework were well thought out and she always gave great feedback which enabled my son to pick up useful exam tips in all areas.
FANTASTIC TUTOR
Tabitha Suzuma has tutored my seven year old twins for the past year for the 9+ exam. She is an amazingly dedicated teacher with a very calm and friendly approach which makes learning a pleasure for my children. They always look forward to their sessions with her and come away very pleased with their achievements, as am I. I would highly recommend Tabitha as a tutor for any child. My son has spent a year now preparing for 11+ with Tabitha and getting tuition in all areas including comprehension. Tabitha is very professional and passionate about her job, and her teaching methods clearly show her great level of experience. My son enjoys the lessons and his confidence in English has shot up since we started. I am proud of the progress he has made and feel confident it will continue to grow. Tabitha is a fantastic teacher and I would recommend her to any parent.
EXCELLENT ENGLISH TEACHER
My 8 year-old had two terms of tutoring with Tabitha for his 8+ exam. He enjoyed his lessons with her very much. Tabitha was patient, positive and dedicated to her students. She was very attentive and supportive, as well. She also provided insightful information to parents who are new to the London schools' competitive entrance exams.GREAT TUTOR AND PERSON
We were very fortunate to meet Tabitha who has been tutoring our 6-year old son for a few months now. She is not only a great professional, very dedicated and skilled, but is also a very friendly and caring person. Our son truly loves his classes with Tabitha and we are very happy with his progress.View more recommendations
