No matter what level you are in Mandarin, my advice would be to focus on why you are learning, write down as many reasons as possible, the more you write the more motivated you will feel. Write at least one every time before you start learning. It will be your base.
A Chinese proverb: Teachers open the door. You enter by yourself. 师傅领进门，修行在个人, you will have the door opened for you as wide as possible.

Max is very patient and easy to get on with, he really knows a lot about how to learn Chinese and the structure of what he teaches is excellent.
