About Somalia
- What kind of experience do you have?
Currently writer on attachment and under commission to Clean Break and The Bush. Member of BBC London Voices programme and the Orange Tree Theatre's Writer Collective.
My debut play Crowning Glory published by Oberon books and produced by Theatre Royal Stratford East in October 2013 is scheduled for a nationwide tour. As well as having work staged at venues such as The Bush Theatre and Soho Theatre, I have worked steadily as an actress both on stage and screen. Performing at venues such as The Unicorn, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Soho Theatre and Theatre Royal Haymarket to name but a few. I direct all productions for my company No ball games allowed (nbga) primarily working with students, aside from that I have directed full productions at venues like the Unicorn Theatre, London Bridge. I also work with SEN teenagers and young adults and mentor a selection of young girls that show particular promise in their chosen field.
Currently one of the playwrights working for The National Theatre's 'new views' 2015 programme, working with young writers across the country. I have led on courses and ran workshops /directed for various companies including The Lyric Hammersmith, GLYPT (Greenwich and Lewisham young people's theatre), No ball games allowed, East 15 Acting school, ICT, Boxclever theatre company
I have over 6 years experience working with young people, tutoring and mentoring and am extremely passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential in whatever their chosen endeavours may be.
