About Daniel
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have tutored German and French to school students and amateur learners for ten years, both in London and in Manchester. I have spent some time in both Germany and France and am especially experienced in German tutoring, working particularly with new learners and GCSE and A-Level students. I am also a published translator of German plays, working chiefly on the works of Friedrich Schiller, several of which have been performed in London's West End.
As an actor I have worked extensively in theatre, TV and film. I have worked with many companies including the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Punchdrunk, Frantic Assembly, Arcola, Menier Chocolate Factory, Battersea Arts Centre, BBC, Channel 4, ITV and Sky. I am a founder member of The Faction Theatre Company, with whom I set up the outreach programme, which provides workshops on how to perform Shakespeare and other classical writers for school-aged students. I am also particularly experienced in clowning and immersive theatre, working in an improvised capacity for companies such as Punchdrunk, Gideon Reeling, Bakehouse and Lost and Found.

I am a professional actor and translator based in South-West London.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach acting and drama, specialising in the performance and text study of Shakespeare and other Elizabethan and Jacobean playwrights. I also teach audition techniques for both amateur actors and those who are auditioning for drama schools.
I am also a linguist and teach German and French from scratch to A-Level standard.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have an BA in Modern Languages from the University of Manchester, majoring in German with joint French honours. I have spent some time in both countries and am especially experienced in German tutoring, working particularly with new learners and GCSE and A-Level students.
I also have a BA (hons) in Professional Acting from LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art), where I completed the three-year course between 2004-2007.
- How much do you charge?
I have a flat rate of £30 per hour for all of my subjects, and £35 per hour for A-Level and specialist subjects. I also offer a reduced price initial consultation. I only charge travel expenses if travelling into central London or outside of zone 5.
- Where do you teach?
I am based in Wimbledon so am perfectly placed for travel to central London, as well as Wandsworth, Earlsfield, Southfields, Putney, Barnes, Roehampton, Tooting, Morden, Mitcham, Raynes Park, Balham, Clapham, Battersea, Fulham, Hammersmith, South-West London and Surrey. I can travel anywhere in the London area, though I would require some travel expenses if travelling outside of inner London or if travelling through central London.
- When are you available?
I am flexible with my availability and can be available when you are available. We can arrange a time that suits us both.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Any age and any ability, for all my subjects.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
New learners, Key-Stages 1, 2 and 3, GCSE, A-Level, drama school entry, Shakespeare performance and study.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
As mentioned above, you can arrange a time with me that suits us both. With acting and audition preparation, however, it is much more productive for the session to be face-to-face.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I am very passionate about my vocations, and that comes across in my teaching.

Perfect! I worked with Daniel both as an acting coach and in German in preparation for an upcoming role. He was very sensitive to my needs in preparation and excellent in his suggestions.
