About Alice
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been tutoring privately for 8 years, and my students include early years pupils, 11+ candidates and adult learners. I have also worked as a classroom assistant at the prestigious St. George's Girls School in Ascot. I have an outstanding record of success with entrance exams, having successfully tutored students to gain places at schools including Westminster Under and Upper, Kings College Wimbledon and Dulwich College. My teaching experience ranges from preparation for the 7+ and 8+ exams, the 11+, GCSE's, A/S and A Levels and University entrance. I pride myself in ensuring that every lesson I teach is tailored specifically to the individual student; I assess their particular needs, struggles and concerns and make sure that we work together in a way that makes them completely comfortable. I am passionate about teaching; I make it my personal aim to achieve consistently high academic results without sacrificing a sense of genuine enthusiasm for the subject.

A 4 year old Russian pupil who I work with to promote confidence with the English Language through educational play;
A native Polish speaking adult learner who I assist with written English;
A native Spanish speaking adult learner who I assist with spoken English;
A number of 7+ and 11+ pupils preparing for various school entrance exams

I principally teach from home in Wandsworth (SW17), however I also travel to students homes anywhere within London zones 1-6. I do not charge for travel. I am happy to arrange face to face sessions on Skype, with additional email support any time during the week.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I pride myself in ensuring that my students always look forward to our sessions. My background and training in the performing arts help me to bring an element of fun and enjoyment to every lesson. I am friendly and approachable, and take great care to ensure that my students are entirely at ease when working with me. I believe that a combination of hard work and enthusiasm leads to the consistently high level of achievement from those I teach.
The pressures of the modern academic system can often be overwhelming and daunting; whatever the student's particular needs or concerns may be, I am here to help. My biggest aim is to alleviate some of the anxiety and unhappiness that can occur when a pupil feels lost or left behind. I never overlook the importance of listening in depth to my students and their parents/guardians when it comes to their individual needs. Every student is different, and struggles can be complex and wide ranging - my speciality is creating a programme that absolutely caters for every pupil's particular goals.
My teaching style always promotes a sense of confidence and self esteem. However much a student may feel that they are struggling, my aim is to work with them as an equal to build a solid foundation of not only academic understanding, but also belief in their own abilities.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Alice helped my son with his GCSE English preparation, as his school felt he would barely scrape by with a C and wanted him to drop English. In 2 months, I could see his confidence and enthusiasm for the subject increase dramatically. Alice has the ability to make the subject fun and less daunting. Her acting skills definitely have something to do with this! But the proof of Alice's ability is in the results. My son achieved an A grade at GCSE! I would not hesitate in recommending Alice to anyone.
