Personal Message

I will start again the singing courses in December 2011 but if you have any questions I will be happy to speak with you and plan future lessons.
I will teach on Skype as well.

Interview

Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Singing to children and adults (from beginner to advanced students). My lessons are focused on the Italian Belcanto ("beautiful singing") method of breathing and vocal techniques to reach a high level of sound and interpretation. The lessons are enjoyable and open to a wide variety of repertoire: songs for children, opera, musicals, church songs and modern/traditional classical singing.

Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Singing diploma taken at Conservatorio in Italy and a Bachelor of Music taken at the University of Bologna. I specialised in antique music with Jill Feldman, in the romantic repertory with Carmen Gonzales, and in contemporary music with Liliana Poli; I then took the Diploma of the biennial further training in 'Opera and symphonic sacred and secular repertory' at the International Academy of Music in Milan in Italy. I was selected by M°Carlo Bergonzi and with him I studied at the Verdiana Academy at Busseto. I won a contest as well as a student grant given to me by Belcanto Festival of Dordrecht (Holland).

What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught for 12 years in the Academy of Music in Rimini, Italy and I have given several seminars about voice and opera at the University of Urbino in Italy and in my studio in London.

How much do you charge?
Fees are £20

Where do you teach?
I teach online on Skype.

When are you available?
I am available most times by arrangement.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach any level, from beginners to professional singers and any age from 6 upwards.

Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Any qualification and auditions

Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes I do.

Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Singing Teachers Worldwide Directory.

Where and with whom did you train?
After the Bachelors my most important teachers were the great tenor Carlo Bergonzi who is still teaching in his Verdi Academy of Busseto. I learned from him the Italian Belcanto ("beautiful singing") method of singing and Richard Burgess Ellis: my last mentor in London, operatic bass extraordinaire and director who was nicknamed ‘Lower C’ for his phenomenal range.

Tell me about some of your current students.
I have students who are very interested in exploring and improving their voices. They are very keen to learn, which I find very rewarding.

Do you have a personal message for students?
The art of singing needs daily practice and sometimes to understand what needs to be done is not enough. The body needs time to adjust to the correct breathing techniques and where how use the sound in the right way.
Students explore a new world of sounds and sensations, and it's important to do this with calmness and serenity but with tenacity.
