About Angharad Elin
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have experience tutoring both individuals and small groups and have an extremely strong academic background. I am currently employed as the bassoon teacher at Hampton Independent School for Boys and Lady Eleanor Holles School for Girls. Since moving to London in September 2015, I have been heavily involved in outreach work both with the Open Academy and with the charities Music for Open Ears and the Irene Taylor Trust. As an individual and as part of an ensemble, I have facilitated creative music-making in workshops for all ages. As a bassoonist, I am currently a trialist for the position of associate principal bassoon with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and have recently performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Sinfonietta Academy, and as the principal bassoonist of the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, London Mahler Orchestra, University of London Symphony Orchestra and numerous other London-based ensembles. I was the principal of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and have played in collaborations with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, as well as concerts with the City of Cardiff Symphony Orchestra, Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra, Neath Sinfonietta and Cardiff Sinfonietta.

I have an up-to-date DBC Certificate and am happy to provide my certificate number upon request.
- Where and with whom did you train?
Formerly with Robert Codd. Now study under Robin O'Neill, John Orford and Fraser Gordon (contrabassoon) at the Royal Academy of Music.

I am a friendly and enthusiastic teacher and tutor. I centre my teaching around a love and enjoyment of music across a variety of different genres, in order to motivate, inspire and challenge.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Bassoon, Music Theory Exams, Beginner Piano, Music GCSE and A Level tutoring, University entrance tutoring (including Oxbridge), Welsh GCSE.

BA Music with First Class Honours, University of Oxford
MSt Music (Performance) with Distinction, University of Oxford
I am currently studying for an MA at the Royal Academy of Music (Leverhulme Trust Postgraduate Scholarship)
- How much do you charge?
My rate is £30/hr for zones 1 and 2.
(An additional charge would be negotiated for travel further than zones 1 and 2).
- Where do you teach?
I would prefer to teach at students' homes but am also happy to teach from my home at Shepherd's Bush.
- When are you available?
My timetable is extremely flexible and I am more than happy to arrange a lesson time that would suit your schedule.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all abilities and all ages:
Bassoon: beginner to diploma level
Music GCSE and A level
University entrance examinations and interview preparation (including Oxbridge interview coaching)
Piano: beginner
Welsh GCSE (I am a fluent Welsh speaker)
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
My lessons would centre around a love and enjoyment of music and musicianship, whilst also fostering technical proficiency through the exploration of a wide range of repertoire, where individual skills and talents could be nurtured and developed. I also recognise the importance of the formal process of examination. Having been through the ABRSM system, I am familiar with the teaching syllabus for bassoon examinations up to and including diploma level.
Regarding academic tutoring for GCSE and A Level, I am happy to both tailor sessions to fulfil the requirements of different academic syllabuses, but also to explore topics beyond the syllabus to peruse individual interests.
