About Antero
- What kind of experience do you have?
While doing my Bachelor's Degree in music at Metropolia University of Applied Studies in Helsinki, Finland a large portion of my studies consisted of pedagogic studies giving me a qualification in Classical Music Education. These studies consisted of various general and music pedagogy lectures, following lessons at various music schools and teaching pedagogic students. These pedagogic studies have given me knowledge and confidence in creating my own teaching method.
I have previous teaching experience from Espoo Adult Education Center in Finland where I was teaching beginner and advanced adult groups for six years, and from Siuntio Music Association where I was teaching groups of children in different levels. Additionally, I have been teaching privately and substituting many of my colleagues during my studies in various music schools in Finland and The Netherlands. This has given me the chance to give individual lessons in addition to the group teaching.

- Where and with whom did you train?
I started to play the guitar at the age of 7 and chose to make it into a profession after Secondary School. I studied under the guidance of the Finnish guitarist Petri Kumela during my Vocational and Bachelor studies in Helsinki.I am currently finishing my Master's Degree in Music Performance at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where I've studied with Zoran Dukic.
In addition to my studies I have received masterclasses from various guitarists such as Marcin Dylla, Carlo Marchione, Pavel Steidl, Ricardo Gallén, Alex Garrobé and many others.

I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher and a classical guitarist from Finland. My goal is to provide creative and fun lessons for students of any age and level and make music part of their life.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach classical guitar as well as basics in electric, acoustic and flamenco guitar.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
Master of Music Degree - Finishing in June 2016 studying classical guitar at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague, The Netherlands.
Bachelor of Music Degree - Graduated in May 2014 studying classical guitar and music education at Metropolia University of Applied Studies in Helsinki, Finland.
Vocational Qualification in Music - Graduated in May 2010 studying classical guitar at Conservatory of Helsinki in Finland.
Guitar Teacher - Teaching beginner/advanced guitar for adult groups 2008-2014 at Espoo Adult Education Centre, Finland.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35/hour for classical guitar and £30/hour for electric, folk and flamenco guitar lessons. I also teach 30 minute and 45 minute lessons depending on the age and individual need of every student. For beginners I offer half price consultation lesson where we can discuss the individual goals of every student.
- Where do you teach?
I live close to Blackheath in London. I am not currently able to teach at home and so am very happy to travel to nearby students' homes as well as longer distances.
- When are you available?
I am currently still in the Netherlands but I will be in London from the beginning of June. My availability is very flexible and I can teach 7 days a week.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach every age and level of classical guitar and basics in electric (rock, pop, funk and others), acoustic (folk, fingerstyle, pop) and flamenco guitar.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can teach students to prepare them for graded exams but also for their own enjoyment. I am also happy to prepare students for auditions and competitions.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am available for lessons via Skype for classical guitar.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I always aim to create a safe and creative environment for the student. In my opinion it is the teacher's task to meet the individual requirements and needs of every student. I think this way the student can find inner motivation in developing their skills and make music an important part of their life.
