Personal Message: I am a friendly, relaxed and experienced teacher. I will help you achieve as much as you want to, whether it's just to play for fun or to pass exams!
Which subject(s) do you teach?: I teach the oboe, flute and recorder from beginner through to advanced. I also teach music theory for those wishing to improve their understanding of music.
Tell me about your qualifications.: I have a Masters in Solo Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music and a degree in Music from the University of Manchester. I also have a Dipolma in Music Performance from the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music.
I have recently started working as a tutor for Salford Music Service.
What kind of experience do you have?: I have been teaching in and around Manchester for five years. All my pupils who have wanted to take exams have passed with excellent results.
How much do you charge?: I charge £20 per hour and £15 for half an hour for individual lessons.
Group lesson fees are dependent on numbers.
Where do you teach?: I teach from home in Fallowfield and can travel to students homes within a close proximity of this area (Withington/Didsbury/Chorlton) for no charge. I travel to teach to homes up to ten miles away (Stockport/Ashton-under-Lyne/Alderley Edge) but I do have to charge travel expenses to cover petrol.
When are you available?: I am available to teach in the late afternoons and early evenings during the week and during the day at the weekend. However if these times do not suit, please do ask to arrange an alternative that works for you!
Which ages and levels do you teach?: I teach all ages and all levels of players for oboe, flute, recorder and music theory. I teach beginner piano from grades 1-5.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?: For those that wish to take exams, I teach the ABRSM syllabus.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?: I have an up-to-date CRB disclosure certificate that can be viewed on request.
Where and with whom did you train?: I trained at the RNCM with Melinda Maxwell, Britain's leading contemporary oboist. Before this I learnt with Christine Swain, the principal oboist of the Northern Chamber Orchestra. I have had Masterclasses with some of the worlds best oboists including Maurice Borgue, Hansjorg Schellenbereger, Gordon Hunt, Nicholas Daniel and Sarah Francis.
