About Carl
- What kind of experience do you have?
I taught violin privately before I left home for university and I have also taught both chamber music and individual lessons at the music school in the town where I went to high school. In terms of leading and coaching I also have great experience of leading orchestras as a concert master. For two years I was the leader of the West Swedish Youth Orchestra and am also the leader and founder of Skallsjö Sommarorkester, an orchestra emerging as one of the leading student run ensembles in Sweden. In addition to that I have also been 1st violinist of several string quartets, gaining experience in chamber music playing and coaching.

My name is Carl, I am a violinist, and an experienced performer in the UK and Europe. I love teaching and I think it is important that I pass on my knowledge so that the next generation can get as much joy from music as I have.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach violin, viola and chamber music. Since my performing and teaching experience is primarily violin and chamber music related I would suggest only to teach viola on a lower level, e.g. children ages 13 or below or beginners of any age.
As a native speaker and having completed 13 years of school in Sweden, including a high school degree, I think I could be of help to whoever wishes to learn Swedish.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
BMus in Classical Violin performance at the Guildhall School of Music in progress. (year 2)
- How much do you charge?
I charge £30/hour for private violin and viola lessons.
I will not charge extra for travelling as long as it is within zone 3 and accessible via London underground.
- Where do you teach?
I will teach in my home in Leytonstone in East London and I am also willing to travel to teach at students' homes.
I am willing to travel within Leytonstone and Islington.
- When are you available?
I have a flexible schedule and can be available during the week as well as the weekend, as long as I get a few days notice. I prefer to teach on weekends but depending on what suits the student I am very open to discussions.
I will be travelling to Sweden for some time during holidays, but not for more than 2-3 weeks as I will have access to my home in London throughout the entire year.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach anything from beginner level to college audition level. All ages.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am willing to teach via Skype as long as that is sufficient for the student.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I believe that the most important thing in learning an instrument and finding the right teacher is that you have someone to share your passion with and be inspired by. Practice is crucial and having a teacher who practises for the majority of his/her time is a great advantage. I practise 5-6 hours/day and will effectively be able to coach a student though the pain and joy of practice.
