About Carol
- What kind of experience do you have?
I started teaching in 1978 and since then have taught Biology to A level and Matric (age 18) and Science at top Private schools, both in the UK and also South Africa. I have also taught in top Government schools in Cape Town and Johannesburg, plus I organised and taught 'holiday courses' in Biology. Whilst in Cape Town I was also the Chief Examiner in Physiology for the Western Cape; I set the Matric (age 18) exam papers for the entire Province, and was in charge of a team of markers.
In my last school I was Head of Natural Sciences, a Year Head, in charge of the Prefect body, House Mistress and on the school Senior Management team. Currently I teach A level Biology, AS Applied Science and BTec Biology .

Yes, I do, plus I have full Police clearance for my time in South Africa.

I am a very experienced teacher who has returned to this country after many years teaching Biology in South Africa. For the last twelve years I was teaching Biology and Science in Cape Town, and was not only Head of subject for both Physiology and Natural Science, but was also the Chief examiner in Matric Physiology for the entire Western Cape. Matric is similar to A level, and I had great success with 'bringing out the best' in my students, whatever their ability level. I now teach Biology A level at a Sixth form College and the Biology component of BTec at a Further Education College.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach mainly A level Biology and Human Biology, but also GCSE Biology.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am proud to be a Graduate of one of our finest Universities, with a BSc Honours in Zoology, and I achieved an Upper Second. I followed this up with the Postgraduate course also offered by the University of Bristol, ie a PGCE.
- How much do you charge?
The fee for my classes will be 25 pounds an hour for A level Biology tuition. We would need to have an initial chat to see what needs to be addressed, and I would not expect payment for this. If you prefer, I can conduct the lessons by Skype, but would prefer lessons to be 'in person' and either the student come to my home near Wickham, or if more convenient, I can come to you. The fee would then include my travel.
- Where do you teach?
In practice lessons are more useful if the student comes to my home in Wickham (near Fareham, Hampshire) - I have all my resources and library then on hand and we would not be interrupted.
- When are you available?
I am happy to tutor during the week.

A level students, but also sometimes GCSE as well.

A levels, GCSE, BTEC.
