About Irene
- What kind of experience do you have?
Teaching experience:
I have given Cello Master Classes at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Cartagena (1-8 ABRSM grades) and at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia (undergraduate students)
I have been teaching privately in last few years, working both with children and adults, at different levels.
I have also participated in several workshops with children at different schools of London.
A bit about me:
I have taken part in the OJRM being principal cellist during 3 years and participating in all its concerts through Spain, Europe and US (Lincoln Center of New York, The Midwest Clinic of Chicago). I have been principal cello at the International Orchestra from the FIOJ (Murcia University 2009). I took part in a Mentoring Scheme with the Birmingham Ballet Orchestra in 2013. At the present I am a member of the JONDE and am on the reserves of the GMJO. I have recorded as a principal cello for productions and films, as Suspicious by Alex Birrel. I am full member of the Camerata de Murcia, a young string chamber orchestra that has garnered positive reviews on their performances.
Since September 2012 I am part of The Brio Duo, with the italian pianist Lucia Brighenti, with which I have participated in several concerts, masterclasses and competitions. In this respect, it is noteworthy the Third prize we won at the VI Concorso Musicale “Città di Piove di Sacco†in 2013.

- Where and with whom did you train?
During my MA at RAM I studied with David Strange (principal instrument), Joseph Crouch (baroque cello) and Jeremy Brown (jazz).
I have also received tuition in this institution of Robert Cohen, Colin Carr, Sung-Won Yang, Kristina Blaumane, , Michael Dussek, Carole Presland, Ian Brown, Kathryn Scott, and The Trio Owon
In my undergraduate courses in Madrid I studied with Iagoba Fanlo.
I have also participated in several masterclasses both as a soloist and chamber musician with Natalia Gutman, Frieder Berthold, Jeans Peter Maintz, Wolfgang Boettcher.

Interested in improving your musical skills? My lessons combine the freshness of an enthusiastic 23 year old musician, with the wisdom acquired from the great masters I have had the honour to learn from.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Cello, Chamber Music, Music Theory and Aural Skills at all levels and ages, from beginners to more advanced students. I can also give my lessons in English or Spanish, as you prefer!
If your passion is learning another language, I also offer spanish lessons.

- How much do you charge?
For cello and chamber music I charge:
£40/hour
£20/30 min
For two students in a row (e.g. in a family), I charge:
£75/2 hours
£110/3 hours
Other options available upon request.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my flat in Cricklewood or at the student's house. If you want me to teach at your home I charge £10 for travel expenses and time (£15 if it takes me more than 45min to get to your home).
- When are you available?
I can usually work around your timetable.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All levels and ages are very welcome.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare my students for ABRSM exams grade 1-8, and audition entry exams for schools.
Preparation for other qualifications are available upon request.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can give online tutorials through Skype or Face Time. Make sure your internet connection is fast enough for video streaming.
