My name is Cameron Skerrow and I am a guitarist based in London, although originally am from Aberdeen in North-East Scotland. I have just graduated from the Guildhall School Of Music and Drama on the jazz course.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

My primary teaching focus is the guitar, in any style, electric or acoustic! Whether you want to sit an exam, apply to a university/conservatoire, or just play for fun, I am more than happy to help you along and enjoy your musical journey. I also teach music theory, and try to improve your general level of musicianship, as it is my experience that by strengthening your 'core' foundations as a musician, learning the guitar (or indeed any other instrument) becomes much easier and ultimately more enjoyable.

Similarly, my training and experience as a jazz musician qualifies me to teach various styles of improvisation, something which is often neglected due to either fear or lack of knowledge in how best to approach it. To those who have little experience in doing it, improvising is often thought of as being mysterious, fraught with peril and something of an inexact science. I believe the exact opposite - that it should be fun, communicative and approached with confidence! Consequently, I try to convey this to any student who may wish to tackle the subject, in the hope of them becoming more expressive, and subsequently, much happier with their musical exploits!

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have recently graduated from the Guildhall School Of Music and Drama, whereby I obtained a Bachelor of Music with Honours degree in Jazz Guitar. The course itself involved such activities as:

- Conducting
- Teaching/Teaching methods
- Regular performances (with varying sizes of groups, from duo to big band)
- Musical Analysis/Theory
- Music History
- Jazz Rhythm Classes
- Arranging
- Composing
- Informative lectures on certain musical topics

I have also received a Certificate for Awareness of Child Protection in Music, validated by the NSPCC.

Prior to this, I had also obtained my Grade 5 Music Theory (ABRSM), Grade 8 Guitar (Rockschool) and my Grade 8 Classical Saxophone (ABRSM).

- How much do you charge?

£30/hour, £15/hour - all students.

- Where do you teach?

I teach in London, zones 1-4.

- When are you available?

Currently I am available all weekdays!

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

All ages, all levels.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I can prepare students for any exams they wish to sit, including Rockschool and RGT. I am also able to prepare pupils for entrance to a university or conservatoire, should they wish to apply!
