About Daryl
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been a Mathematics and Economics tutor for 5 years in this time my reliability and skill has enabled me to develop a good reputation which has allowed me to have a consistent base of 12 - 16 students on a weekly basis.
At degree level I have taught Macro and Micro Economics to students attending Russell Group Universities, this year I helped an international student from Ukraine achieve over 70% in both Macro and Micro Economics at Queen Mary University.
I have taught A-Level Economics across Edexcel, AQA and OCR syllabuses with equal success. I have never had a student score below a B grade in any exam and I have had many students progress from D and C grades at AS- Level to A grades at A2 Level. I have also had several students score over 90% in modules.
I have taught Mathematics at A-Level, GCSE, 16+ and 11+ common entrance levels and covered AQA, Edexcel and iGCSE exam boards. I have helped students gain coveted places at top independent schools such as Eltham College and Bromley High. I have also helped students improve from as low as C grades at GCSE to A grades, however my most notable success this year came when I helped an AS Maths student who scored a D grade in January achieve a B grade in May with an impressive 84% in C1.
Career Highlights!
- Academic Year 2011 - 2012
I helped a student who was predicted a C grade at GCSE to achieve a coveted place at Eltham College after passing a difficult 16+ exam
- Academic year 2012 - 2013
I helped a student who scored a D grade at AS Economics achieve an A grade at A2 level after 8 months of tuition. He was the only student to score an A grade in his school since 2007.
- Academic Year 2013 - 2014
I helped a student who scored a C grade at AS Economics achieve an A grade at A2 Economics with an impressive 97% in Unit 1, 99% in Unit 2 and 100% in Unit 3. He had also had three previous tutors who he was dissatisfied with before coming to me.
- Academic Year 2014 - 2015
I had two GCSE mathematics students who both achieved A* grades in August 2015, one had been on a C grade in November 2014 when we began lessons and the other I had been teaching since she was in year 9, when I began lessons with her she was in the bottom set at school and her school were considering her for the foundation mathematics exam paper.

I have just finished tutoring three A2 Level students who did poorly in their first year at college, all have said that after our sessions they felt much more knowledgeable and capable in Economics, they also said they felt very prepared for their exams and better knew what was expected from them in examinations. These students had great success in this year's A- Level results, the most remarkable being a male student who improved from an E at AS- level to an A at A2 level.
I currently tutor three GCSE students who I have been tutoring for roughly 2 years, during this year all have made a lot of progress in developing essential mathematical skills and some have begun to develop a genuine interest in mathematics. All parents received very positive reports from Math teachers at their last parents' evening, I am also hopeful that two students in particular will be able to take their GCSE one year early and achieve top grades.
Additionally I tutor one home schooled year 8 student on a weekly basis; we do 2hours of Mathematics and 1hour of Economics. We have been doing weekly sessions for roughly one year and she has made a lot of progress and has shown herself capable of doing GCSE standard questions. The sessions have also allowed me to identify where she struggles with her learning and put forward suggestions to her parents which will help her overcome these obstacles.

I have achieved an A and a B in my AS-levels in economics, up from a predicted C for both. I have continued studying with Daryl throughout the A2 year and have achieved a spectacular 93% average for my A2 modules for economics. Every lesson with Daryl meant constant progress, as he put an immense amount of preparation into our lessons and has made sure everything ran smoothly. All the questions that I had outside lesson times were answered very quickly via emails and in great detail, helping me at school.
I first started working with Daryl for my economics a level and he was able to competently explain and clarify ever area of the course. With him I managed to move my grade from a C to A. So thanks again Daryl. Daryl was also able to help me after my a level with my university essays and demonstrated a clear understanding of marketing at an undergraduate level. I can only recomend working with Daryl as he is a competent intelegent young tutor who understands each individual students needs
I was tutored by Daryl for 2 years in economics for my alevels and the amount it improved my understanding and writing skills was huge! He was so helpful and made sure I was perfectly ready for exams with the depth of exam preparation. I received an A grade at both AS level and then an A grade at Alevel and I am certain I wouldn't have achieved them without his help because when he taught me I really noticed the gaps I previously had in my knowledge.
My son Jack had maths igcse tutoring from Daryl he really enjoyed working with Daryl and I think because of his manner Jack felt confident to ask all those questions he was too embarrassed to ask in front of his class! This meant he really focused on what he was struggling with. Daryl was always really helpful and gave great advice, so much so that we changed Jack's A Level choices to Maths. I would have no hesitation in recommending Daryl in the future.
When I came to the UK it was hard for me to get used to the educative system. Economics was definetly a subject which I was not going to do well in. However, Daryl's outstanding teaching made me like the subject very much and it became my favorite subject. I managed to achieve a B in AS economics, and an A* in UFP economics the next year. It was a pleasure being Daryl's student.
I received regular tuition sessions, and he was very helpful when explaining difficult mathematical concepts. In addition, he set me extra homework aside from the work that I was doing at school which was slightly harder than GCSE level, to really challenge me and develop my understanding of the topic. He was an excellent tutor and I would recommend him to anyone who needs a little bit of extra help to help them to achieve the highest grades.
Was a great tutor who explained everything really clearly and with ease, often using real life examples and scenarios which really helped me understand things I could not do before. Daryl set me tasks weekly (often mock exams) which greatly improved my essay writing skills, especially timing and making the right points and evaluations. The feedback from the work he set also really helped, to the point that I could accurately mark the mock exams myself.
My daughter was struggling in Math and we decided she needed tutorials to help her for GCSE . We contacted Daryl and he was very helpful,. Responsive, punctual and dedicated. His method of communication helped my daughter not only to understand better but also actually like Math. She ended up with an A in Math GCSE and is actually taking Math in A levels
