About Vera

- What kind of experience do you have?

I'm a versatile performer with a lot of experience in orchestra and chamber music. Played in the most important orchestras in Portugal as well as the European Union Youth Orchestra with world renowned conductors and where I've been Principal and Co-principal. As I am mostly an orchestral player I give a lot of importance to orchestral excerpts in my lessons and I try to incorporate orchestral repertoire as much as I can, not only giving the students the opportunity to engage in the world of symphonic music, but also showing them how the orchestra works, what are the roles of the other instruments, what is a conductor and how all the pieces of the puzzle come together to make the wonderful music that we aften see in the graet halls around London.

I have tought privatly in Portugal, both double bass and music theory. I can teach in Portuguese and English and I also understand and speak a little bit of spanish.
I have valuable leading experience which helps my teaching being more effective.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

- Where and with whom did you train?

I studied at The Royal Academy of Music with the Professors Duncan McTier and Graham Mitchel. I also took the LRAM qualification, having Rodney Stewart as my tutor.
