About Karl
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching professionally for over 12 years in variety of different situations. I have taught both privately on a one-to-one basis, as a peripatetic music teacher in a Sixth form College and also as a group workshop (drum workshop) leader.
I also am an experienced session musician: Since graduating from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in 2004 I have been fortunate to work with artists such as Liam Bailey Candie Payne, Hannah Peel, Luke Ritchie, Ayumi Hamasaki, Vagabond, Sandi Thom, Lou Rhodes, John Power, Colin Vearncombe, Joe Worricker, Delilah, Rita Ora, Maveric Sabre, Sam Carter.
Played live at venues such as 'The Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena, The o2, Shepherds Bush Empire, Hammersmith Apollo'. Played festivals such as 'Glastonbury, T in the park, V, Bestival, Electric Picnic, Isle of Wight and Latitude'.
Recorded at studios such as 'Abbey road, Parr street studios, Metropolis, Konk, Eden, Elevator, Bryn Derwen, Chem 19, Ape. I have also recorded under such labels as 'EMI, Sony, Universal, Geffen, Delta Sonic, Rough Trade, Real World, Warner and Polydor' and worked with producers such as 'Dan Austin (Doves, Cherry Ghost) Brian Higgins (Girls Aloud, Sugar Babes, Cher, Kylie Minogue) Simon Dine (Paul Weller) George Shilling (Steve Winwood) Paul Savage (Franz Ferninand, Arab Strap) MIke Lindsay (Tunng) Bill Leader (Bert Jansch, Davey Graham, John renbourn) Jimmy Robertson (Plan B, Florence and the machine, Anna Calvi, Tricky) David Wrench (The guillamots, Bat for Lashes) amongst others..

- How much do you charge?
The rates I charge from my fully equipped studio;
- 1 hour = £30
- 1/2 hour = £20
- £100 for 4x 1hour lessons pre-payed.
Travel costs may apply to travel to students house for lesson.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my fully equipped studio in Bow. I also teach in other areas such as Lewisham, Bromley, Sidcup, New Cross, Greenwich, New Eltham, Lee, Hither Green, Catford, London Bridge (travel costs may apply)
- When are you available?
I am flexible and may be available during the day or evening on any given day.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am very happy to teach all ages and abilities.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare you for examinations such as ABRSM, Trinity, Guildhall, Rock school. I can also prepare you for auditions for music colleges, band auditions etc.

Karl is a really patient and inspirational drum teacher. I've been a fan of his playing for some years, so it's a real privilege to be studying with him. He's been able to teach me some really simple but cool grooves as well as some classic drum fills. His drum rehearsal room is a great space for learning in and is really easy for me to get to (as well as free parking!!!).
