About Dylan
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have over ten years of one to one teaching experience, one year of classroom teaching experience and clear communication skills
Throughout my life I have absorbed myself in music, starting piano lessons at 4 years old writing my first pieces of music at 6. By the time I had reached my sixth-form studies in music, I was already teaching part time at weekends. It was at that point I decided to dedicate my life to music; performing, composing, but most importantly sharing my passion through teaching.

I have a CRB certificate, with no convictions listed.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am currently a member of the Musicians Union and the Incorporated Society of Musicians. I also have Professional Membership Status with The European Piano Teachers Association, United Kingdom. My love for composition, and understanding for the importance of contemporary classical music, fuels my membership with Colchester New Music.

Since a young age I have been passionate about music and have decided to dedicate my life to sharing it with others.
My teaching focuses on the technical aspects in the developmental learning of beginners with an emphasis on performance.

- Tell me about your qualifications.
I studied music at Colchester Institute winning the Cannon Jack Award for Solo Piano in 2009, achieving 2nd Place in the Roy Teed Cup for Composition in 2010. There I graduated my Bachelor's Degree in Music with honors in 2010, completing my teacher training (PGCE) the following year.
I continue to study music as personal professional development (PPD) gaining professional awards and certificates to improve my practice and teaching.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £30 for hourly sessions.
- Where do you teach?
Lessons are taught from my home in Colchester on an Yamaha U3 upright piano.
- When are you available?
I am available to teach from:
Monday – Friday
12pm – 8pm
Saturday
9am – 8pm

- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I primarily focus on the teaching of beginner method; despite this, all learners are welcome for a consultation.
As I started piano lessons from a very young age, I believe it is good to give the opportunity of piano lessons to everyone, regardless of age.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Qualifications are not the sole focus of my teaching, instead favoring the application of good musicianship and practical method including performance preparation and exploration of core repertoire.
Should students want to further there study via use of graded music, I use the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) as a template curriculum.

In short: learning cannot be rushed; have fun, enjoy the process.
