About Elizabeth
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching flute and piano privately for over 4 years now and love my work.
I am currently a Flute Tutor at Blackheath Conservatoire and Merton Music Foundation.
I have recently been part of Camerta Scotland performing and taking workshops in Scotland. The workshops were for both Primary and Secondary School children and aimed at giving children an opportunity to experience music would would otherwise not have access to it.
I have extensive experience as a solo performer and as part of orchestras, chamber groups and contemporary ensembles which I believe to be beneficial to teaching not only the technical aspects of playing but also the performance aspect.
I have undergone work-experience in a primary school and the Robert Owen Early Years Centre, been a helper at Mannofield Church Sunday School and was Head Girl of Harlaw Academy (2008/9).
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
CRB check in progress.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I was born and brought up in Aberdeen and received flute lessons from Catherine O'Rourke and David Nicholson at the North East of Scotland Music School. In 2013 I graduated with a First Class Honours Bachelors Degree from Trinity Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London studying flute with Anna Noakes, Margaret Campbell and Julian Coward and piccolo with Alan Baker. I have now just completed and received my Masters degree from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague studying with Thies Roorda and Dorine Schade (piccolo).
Recently I was placed on the extra list for Principal Flute with the Royal Birmingham Ballet Orchestra.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I have taught a range of students, from age 5 to 18 and from beginner to advanced level and enjoyed teaching them all equally.
