Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Harp (pedal and lever) and piano. Music theory (to grade 5) is available as a separate subject, although music theory is also an integral part of my harp and piano lessons.
I have a rounded approach including creative music making and improvisation from the first term as well as technique and notation, interpretation etc.
Tell me about your qualifications.
Certified Harp Therapy Practitioner. Graduate of the International Harp Therapy Program (2008).
BA (Hons) University of York.
Grade 8 Harp ABRSM (1996).
What kind of experience do you have?
I began teaching the harp in 2001. Most of my teaching experience has been at home. I have also taught small groups at York Steiner school to young children between the ages of 4 and 8.
I have been playing the harp freelance for many years and more recently have taken the harp into health related settings, such as St. James Hospital Bexley Wing playing for cancer patients, in nursing homes and community settings. I also have considerable orchestral experience.
Currently visiting harp teacher at Bootham school, York.
How much do you charge?
Lessons can be 30, 45 mins or an hour long and either weekly fortnightly or monthly to suit the pupil.
Where do you teach?
During school hours I can make some home visits in the York area . Evening and weekend lessons take place at my home studio.
I have pupils travelling from across the region: North Yorkshire & West Yorkshire, from villages and towns including York, Selby, Leeds, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Wetherby, Boston Spa, Pontefract, Howden, Easingwold, Boroughbridge, Pocklington.

Where and with whom did you train?
Currently completing the CT ABRSM and DipABRSM (harp) 2011-12 with Helen Arnold and Nigel Mainard.
I trained with Christina Tourin from 2006-8 in the International Harp Therapy Program.
Previously I studied with Dorothy Gilbertson for eleven years from the age of 8.
I have learnt piano as an adult with Heather Hammond.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have between 20-30 students ranging in ages from 7 up including older teenagers and adult learners.

The beautiful heart-warming tone of the harp is unique and accessible to all abilities.
