About Daphne
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have over 15 years teaching experience as a highly successful tutor for both written exams and practical acting exams. I have taught both English and Drama for many different syllabuses and in the National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate system. I have many years experience as a one to one mentor and English specialist at Ofsted inspected Outstanding sixth form colleges and schools, working with students with many different learning needs and abilities.

I have an up-to-date CRB check.

I am a member of the Greater Teaching Council.

I very much enjoy working with my students to find their true potential. I have many years experience working with students from many different backgrounds.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Acting, Drama (GCSE, A level, Btec Performing Arts and for LAMDA solo acting exams) and English Literature (GCSE, A Level, IB MYP level, IB Diploma level). I find students really benefit from learning how to structure their written work to exactly meet exam and syllabus requirements.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Law degree, an English Literature degree, a Masters in Drama in Education from Warwick University and a PGCE in English and Drama from Cambridge.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35 per hour.
- Where do you teach?
I can teach from my home in the beautiful Old town of Hastings, but I find that students work best in a relaxed and busy cafe',
especially when preparing for stressful exams. Hence, I am happy to meet students in any of the many lovely cafes
in Hastings but I often also help through email, skype or over the phone.
- When are you available?
I am available during the day. My schedule varies depending on my students' needs so please contact me to arrange a time that works for you.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am most able to help sixth form students, that is, students aged 16 to 19 years old.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am able to help prepare students for exams in English literature, at A Level, IB Diploma level or GCSE. I am also able to prepare students
for Acting auditions, and both practical or written exams in Drama (at GCSE, A level or IB Diploma level, for Btec Performing Arts and for LAMDA solo acting exams).
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am able to help students with their writing skills for specific upcoming exams through email. I can also skype or help over the phone.
