About Paul
- What kind of experience do you have?
Teaching English has been my full-time job since 2007 and I've worked in York and Leeds, in Bangkok, and in the United Arab Emirates. I have taught adults, teenagers, and young children, usually in groups, but I have also enjoyed being a personal tutor on many occasions. I am keen on multimedia and like to use music and video as well as textbooks. I have done a lot of exam preparation so if you want someone to push you into passing your IELTS exam, I'm your man!

Yes.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained for my degree at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh (2001-2005.) TESOL certification with TEFL International (2007.)IELTS and IGCSE certification through work-based training.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
My current long-term student is Ahmed, who is preparing to study at university in York, and needs 6.5 in the IELTS exam. We are working hard on improving his essay writing skills; Ahmed is learning how to structure his ideas and write high level sentences. We have also been having 'reading races' so that he can read and answer exam questions quickly. We spend part of each lesson speaking about topics from the news and Ahmed likes me to correct his pronunciation so that he 'sounds English'

I offer fun, practical 1-2 hour lessons for all levels of English language learning, usually international students. I can help you reach your aims: we'll work hard to get the results you want but we'll have lots of fun on the journey!

English as a Foreign Language (speaking/listening/reading/writing/grammar/pronunciation skills), IELTS exam preparation, IGCSE exam preparation, Business English.

Degree in Drama (Theatre Directing), TESOL certificate (CELTA equivalent), Certificate in Teaching IELTS, Certificate in Teaching IGCSE English as a Second Language.

Prices start from £20.00 but I'm happy to negotiate.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Haxby, York. I can also travel to York city centre and Leeds. I am able to teach online if preferred.

I am available most evenings and weekends. I can teach on weekdays by request.

I prepare students for the IGCSE and IELTS.
