About Rebecca
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have tutored pupils in English Literature and Language since 2013 through the Tutor Pages - both face to face and over Skype - and am also an English tutor for Titanium Tutors. I have also done work for Civitas, an independent think tank, as an English teacher for its supplementary schools.

As well as tutoring freelance I am also an English tutor for Titanium Tutors, and used to teach English for Civitas Schools, a network of supplementary schools run by the think tank. I graduated with a BA in English from Cambridge (Double First Class), and will start a Masters in Renaissance Literature next year. I have spent the past year working for the literary journal n+1, as well as teaching and tutoring students in English.

BA in English from Pembroke College, Cambridge (Double First); 4 A Levels at A*; Distinction in English Advanced Extension Award.
- How much do you charge?
£35 an hour. I will charge expenses if the location is not on the tube map and costs more than a £10 return by train.
- Where do you teach?
I tutor anywhere in or around Cambridge. I am very happy to travel to students' homes.
- When are you available?
weekdays from 5pm, and weekends.

I tutor pupils at any secondary school level.

- Do you have a personal message for students?
I am keen to share my passion for English with any secondary school pupil who needs a confidence boost in the subject. I wish to help my students gain the tools needed for literary criticism - the close appreciation of the language of a literary work combined with a sense of its contexts - whilst encouraging them to form their own opinions on the texts they study. I also aim to help students with their essay and exam technique: how to structure an argument, and write in clear and precise English that will impress an examiner. I feel that, as a recent graduate who sat school exams not too long ago, I understand the skills needed both to succeed in public examinations - to, of course, fulfil their assessment objectives - and to make a pupil stand out from the crowd.
I help students understand how to approach literary texts and to extract what is needed to structure and answer essay questions, whilst helping them hone a writing style that will impress an examiner.
