About Gary
- What kind of experience do you have?
I teach Clarinet and Sax to people of all ages, from beginner to intermediate (Grade 5 or 6) standard. I have coached people through exams and also helped many hobby players get to their playing goal and beyond.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I have worked professionally both as a singer/actor and as an instrumentalist. There is no genre of music I have not at least dipped a toe into! Classically trained, I am well versed in Swing, Jazz, Musical Theatre and play in a Ska Punk Band! I can teach you to be the complete musician. I also teach music theory up to Grade 5.
- Tell me about your qualifications.

- How much do you charge?
I charge £25/hr either from my home or in yours (travel reimbursement TBC). I also offer half hour sessions for £15 (at my home only). For an extra £10 on top of either of those options I offer a half hour theory lesson. Even my students not studying for exams find this very useful as it means we can discuss the music we are working on without misunderstandings and the need for simplification of terminology.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in London N5, or at yours (minimum 1 hour sessions). I can travel anywhere in London that I reach in under half an hour on public transport. I do require all travel expenses to be reimbursed.
- When are you available?
I am available any time within reason. I teach between 9am and 7pm at my home and any time your neighbours will tolerate at your place!
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Any age. I have done group classes designed to be an introduction to music with babies as young as 3 months! My youngest private pupils are 7 or 8 and with teenagers through to young adults. I also have several adult students (the eldest is in his sixties!) who have come to music later in life, but find they get just as much - if not more - out of it than their younger counterparts. It's never too early OR too late!
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
If you wish to take exams by way of charting your progress, we can work towards any syllabus you wish to up to Grade 6. This means I can happily take you through the practical exams on either Clarinet or Sax up to Grade 5, in conjunction with the theory you will need to take in order to progress beyond that point in your playing.
