- I'm a scholarship classical piano student on a BMus degree at Trinity College of Music, one of the top European conservatoires. I'm half-French, perfectly bilingual and started the piano aged 4.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Classical piano - beginner until grade 8 and diploma levels.
I can also teach jazz/pop piano/keyboard as well as composition.
Theory for exams or general knowledge (all levels) - Tell me about your qualifications.
- Piano performance - grade 8 (aged 15), DipABRSM (a.16) and LRSM (a.18), all dinstinctions
French horn - grade 8 (dinstinction)
Theory - grade 5 ABSRM aged 12 with 100/100 (continued studying but didn't take further exams) - What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been teaching privately for 3 years.
Last summer, I was sent by the WAM foundation to teach piano in New Delhi, India. I had around 30 weekly pupils (some of them teachers themselves), ran lecture-workshops for piano teachers, performed in solo recitals, held a music workshop in association with the British Council for school-children, and travelled for a piano workshop at Dhoon school, "India's Eaton". - How much do you charge?
- £35 per hour
- Where do you teach?
- I teach from home in Lewisham, London (very close to Lewisham and St John's stations).
- When are you available?
- I am available at various times every day of the week, but cannot teach sundays on a regular basis.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- All ages.
Piano - All levels including grade 8 and diploma levels.
Theory, musicianship, composition, arranging skills - all levels - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- All grades, both ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall boards.
However many players may want to play for pleasure and explore different repertoires, styles, and methods of learning. I am extremely flexible and adapt my teaching to each individual's needs and interests. - Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes. Parents are welcome to be present during lessons.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- I enjoy teaching tremendously; being a good teacher is so much more than just being proficient in one's field, and I am fascinated by that.
My pupils tell me I'm extremely patient, friendly and encouraging.
I try to be inspirational in any way I can (whether it is recording their piece and helping them set up their own myspace page to show all their friends and family, or getting them to transcribe and play their favourite songs). On the other hand I am constantly mindful of developing sound musical and technical habits rather than mindlessly going through incrementally harder pieces!
If I rouse my pupil's enthusiasm, have them love their daily practice and create soulful artists no matter what level they're at, then I'm satisfied I've done my job.

What makes a good piano player?
What makes a good pianist? If I were to step into a time machine and spend an afternoon with my 10 year old self, this is the advice I would give him (and avoid much wasted time!). Fortunately (for me) I am not about to embark on a 1000-page doctoral thesis. Rather, outline some principles which should be taught and nurtured right from the...
