Tell me about your qualifications.
BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Music
PGCE in secondary Mathematics
What kind of experience do you have?
I am a fully qualified, secondary mathematics teacher. I have taught maths on a 1:1 basis and as a classroom teacher in Hampshire schools for several years. I have recently decided to take a break from classroom teaching.
How much do you charge?
For GCSE tuition I charge £25/hr
For lower secondary tuition (key stage 3) and adult numeracy I charge £20/hr
Consultation session free.
I don't charge any extra for travel and am happy to tutor more than one student at the same time for the same price (as long as they need help at a similar level). I accept payment in cash, cheques or bank transfers.
Where do you teach?
I teach at students' homes. My main area for teaching is Southampton but would consider travelling to some surrounding areas (such as Eastleigh, Romsey, Winchester) if it would not be too long a drive.
When are you available?
As I have recently decided to take a break from classroom teaching I am available most days and times. Please contact me to find out my more specific availability. At present I am not available on Monday after 3.30pm.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I primarily teach 11-16 year olds but am also available for GCSE retakes or adult tuition.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes
Calculator Paper
I have marked many exam papers over the years and have noticed that students often fail to show their workings in the calculator paper. If you make a mistake when pressing the keys or slight error in completing the question then you get no marks at all. ALWAYS write down everything you type into...
