- I have a Master if Music in vocal training from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and a Bachelor Degree in Music (Hons) from Napier University. I also have passed my Grade 8 ABRSM with distinction in Singing.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I am a Singing Instructor at Fettes College and have also been teaching privately for over three years. I have also taught in the New London Performing Arts Centre, London. There I taught students of all ages singing, piano, theory and teaching the Lamda music theatre class. As a singing teacher I specialise in classical, opera and musical theatre but have also taught Jazz and popular music. As a music theory and piano teacher I have prepared students for ABRSM Grade 1 to 5.
I have many years of performing experience singing opera roles and church music. Recently I have sung the Soprano solo for 'the Messiah' with Anstruther Choral Society and a have several renaissance song recitals lined up for 2011 with lutist Gordon Ferries. - How much do you charge?
- I charge £25 p/h for singing lessons and vocal coaching and am able to do 30 minute lessons at £15. If the travel is more than 15 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh I will add a small fee for travel expenses.
- Where do you teach?
- I normally teach at home which is near the centre of Edinburgh but would be willing to travel to the students home.
- When are you available?
- I teach Monday to Saturday between 10:00am and 10:00pm and throughout the holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- Any age and level.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and Royal Academy singing and theory examinations - all grades up to and including diploma in singing and grade 5 in theory.
I prepare students for GCSE and A-level singing and singing students for entry to degree courses in classical singing. - Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I am CRB checked.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I am with a music agency called Classical Musicians Scotland.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- Taught by John Evans and Patricia Mcmahon. I also have had many master-classes with great singers and accompanists including Dame Ann Murray, Jane Manning, Dame Emma Kirkby, Donald Maxwell and Malcome Martineau.
