About Richard
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching guitar for over 15 years, inc one-on-one private lessons, to ensembles in schools and colleges. I have coached numerous pupils through GCSE and A level music, as well as ABRSM and Trinity Grades. As a performer I have experience playing Classical, Folk, Gypsy Jazz, and Electric/Rock guitar,as well as mandolin and ukulele. In addition to guitar and theory teaching I lead music therapy workshops for adults with learning difficulties.

I have an up to date DBS (CRB)
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied guitar with Charles Ramirez at Goldsmith's and Graham Devine Trinity College of Music. As well as these exceptional tutors I have have taken part in masterclasses with John Mills, Jason Vieux, Carlos Bonnel, Fabio Zanon and the acoustic guitar virtuoso Pierre Bensusan.

I have built up a strong method of teaching beginners guitar to ensure they have a solid foundation in technique and musicianship. Years of experience teaching and performing a variety of styles of music means lessons are always varied and fun.

Classical Guitar. Acoustic Guitar. Electric Guitar. Theory and musicianship.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Bmus(hons) from Goldsmith's Univeristy. LTCL performance Diploma(distinction), MMus from Trinity College of Music
- How much do you charge?
I charge £15 per half hour lesson. £30 for the full hour. Please enquire if you are not sure what is best for you. Additional fees are added for travelling if needed.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at home in Brockley, though also willing to visit your house if local. Additional fees for travel may be added depending on distance.
- When are you available?
I am available day times and evenings on weekdays/weekends. Availability changes so please drop me line to find something suitable for you.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages from 4/5 through to adult. I teach Classical/Acoustic/Electric guitar up to grade 8 and offer coaching for GCSE/A level music performance and theory.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for ABRSM, Trinity and Rockschool exams.
