About Hannah

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have taught a very wide variety of people from adults to children, in groups and individually and I have also worked with those who have special educational requirements. I provide GCSE support in a school in Fulham as well as teaching privately at churches in Acton, Marble Arch and Highgate.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I have an enhanced DBS certificate.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I trained as a chorister at Norwich Cathedral where I studied the organ with the support of a Norwich Diocesan Scholarship. I was then able to take up a place at the St Giles' Junior Organ Conservatoire, studying with Ann Elise Smoot. After leaving school I took up a place at the Royal College of Music, London, where I studied with David Graham, Sophie-Veronique Cauchefer-Choplin and also harpsichord with Jane Chapman. After graduating from the RCM with the Harold Darke Prize for Organ, I studied for an academic Masters degree at Royal Holloway, University of London. I continued studying with David Graham.

I am an enthusiastic teacher committed to getting the most out of a student, whatever their aims or abilities. I have a wide range of experience of education as a one-to-one teacher as well as classroom and workshop teaching.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach Piano, Organ and Theory. I can also offer coaching in aural tests for grade exams of any instrument and offer support for GCSE and A level music exams.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I am a graduate of the Royal College of Music with BMus (Hons) winning the Harold Darke Prize for Organ and studied for a Masters degree at Royal Holloway, University of London.

- How much do you charge?

The charge is £35 per hour. The first time I meet you is free of charge.

- Where do you teach?

I am based in Chiswick but often teach in north and north west London too. I would be willing to travel to a students' home or local church.

- When are you available?

I am available to teach on a flexible basis with availability during the day, evenings and weekends.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages. Children are usually 7 before they would benefit from formal music lessons, but each child is different so please enquire. The organ is usually subject to a reasonable level of piano skills but please enquire if this is something you are unsure about.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I have prepared students for ABRSM exams and would be willing to teach the RCO examination syllabus. I can also offer support for GCSE and A level exams. I have also prepared students for auditions and other performances.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I am able to tutor Music Theory online provided the student has a scanner and printer. Skype can also be beneficial. Tutoring online would involve sending students instructions and a worksheet for the given area, they complete the worksheet and scan and email it back to me. I can then send corrections/suggestions and more work. This would not work for young children.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I believe I am a flexible and enthusiastic teacher who is able to get the most out of any student regardless of age or ability. I have considerable experience of working with both adults and children. I am very organised and each lesson is tailored to a student's specific needs.
