Personal Message
I am an enthusiastic teacher committed to getting the most out of a student, whatever their aims or abilities. I have a wide range of experience of education as a one-to-one teacher as well as classroom and workshop teaching.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Organ and Theory. I can also offer coaching in aural tests of grade exams of any instrument and offer support for GCSE and A level music exams.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I am a graduate from the Royal College of Music with BMus (Hons) winning the Harold Darke Prize for Organ and studied for a Masters degree at Royal Holloway, University of London.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught a very wide variety of people from adults to children, in groups and individually and I have also worked with those who have special educational requirements. I provide GCSE support in two schools in Fulham as well as teaching privately at home and in churches in Acton and Putney.
How much do you charge?
The charge is £33 per hour and £50 for an hour and a half.
Where do you teach?
I am based in Acton and currently teach in Acton and Putney. I would be willing to travel to a students' home or local church.
When are you available?
I am available to teach on a flexible basis with availability during the day, evenings and weekends.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages. The Organ is usually subject to sufficient keyboard skills but please enquire.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I have prepared students for ABRSM exams and would be willing to teach the RCO examination syllabus. I can also offer support for GCSE and A level exams.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I have an enhanced CRB certificate.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am able to tutor Music Theory online provided the student has a scanner and printer. Tutoring online would involve sending students instructions and a worksheet for the given area, they complete the worksheet and scan and email it back to me. I can then send corrections/suggestions and more work. This would not work for children.
Where and with whom did you train?
Royal College of Music and Royal Holloway, University of London.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I believe I am a flexible and enthusiastic teacher who is able to get the most out of any student regardless of age or ability. I have considerable experience of working with both adults and children. I am very organised and each lesson is tailored to a student's specific needs.
