About Harry
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have 10 years of experience as a performer, playing in a huge variety of groups, and styles such as jazz, hip hop, soul, afro-cuban, funk, pop, rock, afrobeat, and many more.
Groups include:
-THE HARRY CHRISTELIS QUARTET, my own jazz quartet playing my original compositions and arrangements.
-TEOTIMA, 16 piece world music ensemble, taking influnence from jazz, soul, african, afrocuban, and classical music. Playing in this group has included sell out shows at top London venues such as Wilton's Music Hall, and The Vortex. (concealed information)
-FUR, 8 piece live hip hop group. (concealed information)
I have also written music for films, including feature film 'Third Star' by Bafta award winning director Hattie Dalton. Furthermore, i composed and produced the score for the short film 'Love Story', by Josh & Saul Films.
I also have plenty of teaching experience, doing a mixture of guitar teaching at schools, as well as private tutoring to all ages and abilities.

Hi, my name is Harry Christelis, and I am a working musician and guitar tutor with 10 years experience in performing and teaching in London.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach guitar in a variety of styles, such as jazz, rock, pop, soul, and funk. All can be taught with a mix of music theory, composition, technique, analysis, repertoire or harmony.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have completed a BA in Jazz Performance and Harmony and Theory at Middlesex University. On this course, i studied under some of the UK's top musicians, including guitar tuition from UK legends Stuart Hall and Chris Montague. Furthermore, the course included advanced tuition in harmony, theory, performance, rhythm, and analysis from Nikki Iles, Rob Townsend, Chris Batchelor and Gareth Williams.

£30 per hour.
- Where do you teach?
I can teach at my house in Stoke Newington, or travel to a student's house.
- When are you available?
I am potentially free to teach any day of the week.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages, beginner to intermediate.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I aim to cater lessons to each individual student. I want to know their musical interests, and what they want to get out of playing an instrument. Doing this will mean students can engage in their learning easily, making it easier for them to make good progress in their playing! Furthermore, i like to teach in a way that will allow students to keep learning between lessons, making sure that they are raising new questions for themselves throughout their practice, as well as bringing new queries to me that we can work through together.
