Learning a musical instrument should be fun and have a positive impact on your day to day life.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Jazz and Classical Saxophone from beginer level up to advanced.
Tell me about your qualifications.
Currently in the final year of my Mmus at Trinity School of Music London having accepted the 'TCM Trustee Scolarship' for both years.
Bmus(hons) Jazz degree from Birmingham Conservatoire
Grade 8 classical saxophone with distinction
What kind of experience do you have?
I taught as a woodwind teacher for the Birmingham music service for 4 years after graduating before moving to London. As a member of the Birmingham music service I became the Saxophone specialist teacher which meant I was teaching the leading young saxophone players in the region. With Birmingham I was also involved in the governments scheme of Wider Opportunities teaching flute/clarinet to whole classes of Key Stage 2 students.

While living in Birmingham I became musical director for 4 years of a community based big band called 'The Notebenders' with members ranging in age from 7 to 60. I led the band and arranged all the music. This band became partners with the BBC Big Band which involved regular workshops with both bands, my final performance with them before moving to London was a joint gig with the BBC and played on BBC Radio 2.

I am currently teaching saxophone at a leading Grammar School and teaching privately in South London I have entered over 90 pupils for ABRSM exams and have had 4 of my students progress to gain entries into music college in both the jazz and classical departments.

Aside from my teaching experience I also have the experience of being a professional musician having performed with various bands in different venues in and around Europe such as Ronnie Scotts, The Royal Festival Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and The Bulls head. I have also performed on BBC radio 2 and in a recent 60 minute performance of newly composed music on Radio 3.
How much do you charge?
I charge £25 for an hours lesson and £15 for a half hour lesson. All fees include travel expenses as I would rather travel to you for your lessons.
Where do you teach?
I would prefer to travel to you for your lessons.
When are you available?
Best to ask, as it can depend on what area i'm already teaching in.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach all ages and abilities.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am happy to prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall music exams. I am also happy to help prepare a student for auditions and competitions. Please be aware though that I wont be making any students do any exams if they are not interested as you can still have great lessons with good progress without having to take exams.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I have an up to date CRB.
Where and with whom did you train?
I have been lucky enough to study with some great saxophone players both in this country and in New York including,
Jean Toussaint
Martin Speake
Mark Lockheart
Bob Franceschini
Mike Williams
Donny McCaslin
Julian Seigel
Do you have a personal message for students?
Learning should be fun and as your teacher I will structure the lessons so that you have fun while also developing core skills such as good time keeping and the development of a good sound.
