About Jane
- What kind of experience do you have?
Very experienced Performer and Teacher. Freelance work with the Central German Radio Orchestra, tours in Spain with the London Schubert Players, Opera tours in London, Paris, Cornwall and Dorset. Ensemble and Orchestral work throughout Britain. Many years' teaching experience in schools and privately. I currently teach at St Paul's Girls' School and Tower House (for boys) and privately. Past experience includes Queenswood School, Forest School, John Lyon School, The Old Vicarage, Wandsworth Saturday School, Hillingdon Borough Saturday School and Demonstration Quintet, Inner London Education Authority and JCYM (Junior Centre for Young Musicians).

Trinity College of Music, studying with Harold Clarke. Additional study with Adrian Brett. Residential course with Wissam Boustany.
One year postgraduate training for class and instrumental teaching at Middlesex Polytechnic.

Incorporated Society of Musicians and the Royal Society of Musicians.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
My current students are of varying ages and standards.Some are extremely motivated towards exams, the majority gain merit or distinction; at present several have just taken or are about to take Grade 8. Others prefer not to take exams and are motivated to explore a wide range of music including show, folk, pop, improvisation and duet playing.

Classical Flute and Recorder
- Tell me about your qualifications.
Four years' Study at Trinity College of Music, London, gaining LTCL (Flute) and LTCL (Teaching). Certificate of Education from 1-year post-graduate course at Middlesex Polytechnic, specialising in Woodwind Teaching.
- How much do you charge?
£20 per half hour (Flute and Recorder). Longer lessons can also be offered pro rata. Shared lessons are also an option. Initial free trial lesson / meeting offered.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my own home in Mortlake, which is easily accessible from Richmond, Barnes, Putney, Wimbledon, Kingston and Central London, Kew, Chiswick, Roehampton East Sheen and Hammersmith. I live near the station and several bus routes. I can travel to pupils' homes in some instances.
- When are you available?
Monday -Friday, flexible times by arrangement
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Age 6 upwards, beginners to advanced. Parents / Carers are welcome to sit in on lessons. Adult students are also very welcome.
I have a particular interest in teaching and helping students with visual impairment.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM / Trinity Guildhall. I also help students prepare for GCSE and A level Performance option.

- Do you have a personal message for students?
My main aim as a teacher is to give my students a love of music and their instrument. I like to emphasise the positive aspects of their playing and help them to reach their full potential.
