Interview
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach violin/viola, piano and music theory.
Tell me about your qualifications.
2004-06 PG Dip, Royal Academy of Music
2000-04 BMus(Hons), Royal Academy of Music
What kind of experience do you have?
I have worked with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and other major orchestras in the UK.
How much do you charge?
The fees start from £15 per lesson, which depend on the length of session.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my studio and I also provide home visits.
When are you available?
I am flexible with my schedule.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Any level from age 3 and above, including adults!
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have had students successfully auditioned for the junior department of the Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music.
Previous students include music scholars at St. Paul and Westminster schools.
Not to mention numerous past and current students passed ABRSM exams with distinction!
"Fiddle Time" series
I strongly recommend the Fiddle Time series for violin beginners. These books are colourful, easy to start with and purely great fun! You would have no problem advancing to ABRSM Grade 1 after completing the Fiddle Joggers.
John Thompson's
For me, John Thompson's Easiest Piano Course would have to be the most ideal beginner material for children. After completing Part 3 of the Course, you would then be eligible for the ABRSM Grade 1!
