About Kim
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been working as a cover supervisor/teacher on an agency basis for the past three years and a private tutor for the past two, and unofficially have tutored and worked with children for the past four years. I was also on the PGCE (secondary) course at Roehampton up until April of last year (2012) before deciding that I preferred teaching on a private and more individual basis. During the course, however, I learned a great deal about teaching techniques, and it was this, coupled with the fact that I managed to significantly raise the grades the more difficult pupils who were smaller class sizes (approx 12-14), that made me realise that my particular style of teaching was far better suited to individuals or small groups.

Hi, my name is Kim, and, put quite simply, I love to teach!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
The subjects I teach are English, History and Religious Studies/Education, all of which I absolutely thoroughly enjoy. I do occasionally also help foreign students who simply wish to ensure that their answers are in excellent English, regardless of the subject matter itself.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a BA in Philosophy and Religious Studies (2:1) and an interdisciplinary Humanities MA (Merit) which covered English, History and Art History. I also have A Levels in English, History and Philosophy (AAB), an AS Level in Sanskrit (B) and GCSEs in English Literature, English Language, Religious Studies, History, Physics, Maths, Biology, Sanskrit, and Art (4 A*s, 4 As and a B).
- How much do you charge?
My basic current fees are:
- A Level £35 p/hr
- GCSE £30 p/hr
For an initial consultation I charge £15 p/hr for GCSE and above. In a consultation I would cover what the student feels is required, what is being done at school, and what the student feels they are capable of already.
- Where do you teach?
I teach both at home and in the students' homes. I live in Twickenham in a small flat shared with a primary school teacher, a lawyer and a cat, but I will travel to Hounslow, Whitton, St Margarets, Richmond, Petersham, Clapham Junction, Barnes, Putney and Roehampton.
- When are you available?
I am currently available on a flexible basis on Monday evenings, Friday evenings and most Saturdays and Sundays. I am also available up to 5pm on Tuesdays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach secondary school children from 11 years and upwards, and I also teach adults who wish to improve their English writing skills and will help write CVs on a separate basis. I also proofread and edit University level essays and dissertations for the Humanities.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare my students for GCSE English Literature, Language, or the combined English paper, History and Religious Studies/Education. I also work with students taking A Level English.
