About Kiyoko
- What kind of experience do you have?
As a musician, I regularlly perform with other instrumentalists and singers, I have a two trios (flute, oboe and piano + flute, cello and piano).
I always play for the instrumentalists and singers in ABRSM or Trinity/Guildhall exam as an accompanist.
I was a professional accompanist at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
I also worked in a nursery as a part time music teacher for 5 years.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes. I have a CRB.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied with Lesley Young in Colchester Institute, Ilana Davids in Trinity College of Music, and Eugene Asti in Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
I am currently studying with Peter Uppard.

I have 20 students from aged 4 included adult students.

I want my students to enjoy playing the piano and I feel very happy when my students play with a big smile.
I sometimes have to be strict as I do not want them to get a bad habit, but I am sure that my students will enjoy playing.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the Piano (Classical).
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have BA in Singing from Kwassui Women's College in Japan.
I completed MA in Solo Piano Performance in Colchester Institute in 2004, Advanced PGDip in Piano Accompaniment in Trinity College of Music in 2006 and MMus in Piano Accompaniment in Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2007.
- How much do you charge?
I charge ₤30 for an hour,₤25 for 45 mins and ₤20 for 30 mins when I teach in my students' house, I ask another ₤5 for traveling.

- Where do you teach?
I can teach at home in Greenwich. The nearest station is North Greenwich (tube) or Maze Hill (BR).
I can also come to teach at students' house if it is in Greenwich, Blachheath, South Kensington or Ealing erea.
- When are you available?
Sunday afternoon - Greenwcih
Monday anytime
Thursday afternoon - Greenwich or Blackheath
If morning or early afternoon, I can teach any days except weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach students from aged 4 and adults at any levels. Adult beginners are welcome!
I can help the preparation for exams included aural and theory.
I have experiences of teaching for both ABRSM and Trinity-Guildhall Grade Exams.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM, Trinity/Guildhall practical exams and theory.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I want all my students to enjoy music.
I ask young beginners to sing when they play the piano. I believe it helps students to learn the notes quickly and they can improve their ears.
I have a confidence to teach good technique to avoid any problems with your hands and shoulders. It is really important to learn proper technique in early stage.
I have never suffered from these kind of problems in my life, thanks to my teachers!
I organise a students' concert once a year and encourage to join the Festivals and School concerts etc, so my students can get at least one performance experience every year.
