Which subject(s) do you teach?: I teach French, German and if applicable some English Grammar.
Tell me about your qualifications.: I have a MA Hons 2.1 in language, interpreting and translation and I am currently studying for a diploma in freelance journalism from the British College of journalism.
What kind of experience do you have?: I am currently tutoring a seventeen year old who is preparing for the sqa's higher French examination. In addition to this, I have also had much experience of tutoring children of friends and family.
How much do you charge?: I charge £20 per hour. Tutorials would be available for one hour or ninety minutes on a weekly basis for a period of three or six months depending on the customer's needs. I could however be flexible with charges if the customer booked a block of lessons or if I were tutoring more than one child.
Where do you teach?: I teach in the Airdrie area and would be willing to travel to the surrounding areas and even in to Glasgow. Tutorials take place at the student's home. This is for reasons of safety for both parties and it is also a much more practical solution as I can easily liaise with pupils and their parents etc.
When are you available?: I am available monday to Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Which ages and levels do you teach?: I teach children between the ages of eleven and eighteen or adults attending college or community learning courses.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?: I prepare students for any SQA examinations or examiniations equivalent to Sqa. I do also tutor those wishing to take up a new hobby
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?: I have an up to date enhanced disclosure certificate from Disclosure Scotland.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.: This is an area which I would like to develop in the near future.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?: I belong to ProZ.com the translation workplace and also to hometutors.org.uk
Where and with whom did you train?: I trained at Heriot-Watt University.
Tell me about some of your current students.: I am currently tutoring a seventeen year old who has never studied french before and is now sitting it at higher level. Challenging enough you would think? but I must in fact help him to achieve a B pass in order to get in to the university course he has applied for.
Do you have a personal message for students?: I am here to help you overcome the challenges that seem insurmountable in a busy and stressful classroom setting.
