About Lauren
- What kind of experience do you have?
I started playing the cello when I was 3 years old and have loved playing ever since. I have taught private lessons and group lessons for many years and I am very comfortable teaching children of all ages as well as adults whether you just want to enhance your skills or prepare for ABRSM exams. The Suzuki method foundational course I took focused on setting up beginner cellists as well as further developing intermediate and advanced level cellists.
I am currently teaching cello with Opera North's In Harmony project, cello and piano with The Music Place, violin privately, and I am also a Deputy Cello Tutor for the RNCM Young Strings.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes I have a DBS Certificate for teaching children.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied with Philip Higham for my MMus degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. I completed the Suzuki Unit 1 Foundational Teaching Course with Susan Gagnon in Canada.

- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have recently completed a MMus (Hons.) degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
I have also completed a foundational strings teaching course in the Suzuki method which focused on setting up beginner cellists as well as furthering to develop intermediate and advanced cello and musicianship skills.
- How much do you charge?
If you would like to be part of a group lesson, the individual fee would be reduced depending on the number of students in the group.
- Where do you teach?
I normally teach at my home in the Chorlton area, but arrangement could be made for me to come to you.
- When are you available?
My schedule at the moment is fairly flexible so I could work with you to find a time that suits you best.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Beginner to Advanced Levels
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
If interested, I can prepare students for the ABRSM exams.
