- Teaching & performing is a passion. I've taught for 20yrs & have played at 1000's of parties, weddings, corporate events & theatre. I love to play & teach, my drive & enthusiasm is infectious.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach Saxophone (alto, tenor, soprano and baritone), Clarinet and Music Theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have distinction at Grade 8, a Performance Diploma, an Instrumental Teaching Diploma and Grade 6 theory with the Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have taught privately for over 15 years and have seen many students go onto colleges with music scholarships. As well as guiding students through exam processes, I teach those in a variety of bands, from function bands to community bands to top UK bands. I perform at all manner of events, from award ceremonies to weddings to any excuse for a celebration and have played for 1000's of functions.
- How much do you charge?
- £30 p/h or if the student prefers 1/2 hour, just £15
Some students like to block book lessons and some prefer to arrange lessons on a more casual basis, whatever suits your needs is fine with me. - Where do you teach?
- I teach from my studio in Lancing where I have access to hundreds of pieces of music, backing tracks and exam syllabuses.
- When are you available?
- I teach daytime or evenings depending on my students needs. I don't tour so I am a reliable teacher and am available to help students wishing to take exams.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach students from 7 or 8 years old depending on whether they are big enough to handle the instruments and take the weight. My oldest student has been 87 years old, proving you're never to old too have a go.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I teach ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses, classical and jazz, from Grade 1 to Grade 8 and Performance and Teaching Diplomas. And up to Grade 6 theory.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- Musicians Union, Clarinet & Saxophone Society.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- All my training has been private, firstly with a saxophonist trained at Kneller Hall and subsequently I took sessions with various other musicians from classical and jazz backgrounds.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Have lots of fun and get involved in school bands or local community bands or go to a jamming session at the local pub. I can guide you where to look.
