About Lucy
- What kind of experience do you have?
Teaching Experience:
♫ For ten years I have taught on 'Music Makers' summer courses. On these courses I take choir rehearsals, string, brass and recorder sectionals, rehearse and conduct groups, perform in instrument demonstrations and run musical games and activities with the aim to introduce music to young children in a fun and enjoyable way.
♫ During my time at the Purcell School I was very involved in the schools award-winning Outreach programme, organising and leading music-based workshops, concerts and assemblies for children in many schools throughout the UK.
♫ I have been teaching privately and practice supervising in London for five years.
♫ I currently work at three schools in London, teaching individual and small group instrumental lessons, leading Wider Ops string classes, conduction an orchestra and teaching Key Stage 2 class music lessons.
Musical Experience:
♫ Pupil at the Purcell School of Music for seven years.
♫ Graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, studying the cello with Alexander Baillie and Tim Lowe.
♫ Performances in major London venues including the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Barbican Hall, St John's Smith Square, Cadogan Hall and Buckingham Palace.
♫ String quartet lessons and masterclasses with members of many distinguished ensembles including the Alban Berg, Takács, Belcea, Endellion, Dante, Talich, Skampa, Allegri, Carducci, Bochmann, Heath, Cecilia and London Haydn Quartets
♫ Solo performances throughout the UK, and in Guernsey, France and Uganda.
♫ Orchestral and chamber performances under the direction of world-renowned musicians including Sir Simon Rattle, John Rutter and Eric Whitacre.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have an up-to-date DBS certificate.
- Where and with whom did you train?
At the age of 11 I gained a scholarship to study at the Purcell School of Music, where I stayed for seven years. During my time at the Purcell School I had weekly individual lessons on the cello, trumpet, singing and piano, and class lessons in music history, aural, harmony, theory and music technology, as well as an all-round education. I was involved in the schools orchestras, choirs, jazz groups and chamber groups. I was also a member of the National Children's Orchestra.
I have recently completed a degree on the cello at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, studying with Alexander Baillie and Tim Lowe.
