About Maksim
- What kind of experience do you have?
Teaching experience in the UK:
• Royal College of Music - Mills Williams Junior Fellowship involving classes and projects for RCM Keyboard Faculty students
• Teaching children of all ages and adults
• Piano and music theory, combined or separate courses
• ABRSM syllabus: private students in all Grades, DipABRSM and beyond
• Languages spoken: English, Russian, Estonian
• Also providing accompanist services for all instrumentalists and singers
Teaching experience in Estonia (2007-present) -
• Teaching module at the EAMT, encompassing „Teaching Methods“ academic course and practical lessons supervised by the Faculty, graduated with distinction in 2011
• Assisting professor Ivari Ilja at the EAMT and working individually with some of his students
• Series of school concerts for high schools and music schools, organised and recorded by Radio Classics (2012)

Having come from a Russian musical background, I believe in the ideas and principles established by the great Russian pianists of the 20th century.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Piano (ABRSM Syllabus - all grades + DipABRSM and beyond), Music Theory, Composition, Chamber Music, Jazz Piano and Improvisation
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have received my Master of Music degree with Distinction from the Royal College of Music in 2013, studying under Gordon Fergus-Thompson and have also completed the prestigious Artist Diploma course with him in 2014. I have received my Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with Distinction degree at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre where I studied with Ivari Ilja. My Masters studies were generously supported by a Somers-Mountfort scholarship, the AHRC Study Award, the Estonian Capital of Culture Study Award and the Kristjan Jaak Scholarship. In 2014 I have started my Doctoral course at the RCM, supported by the RCM Doctoral bursary and Mr Nigel Woolner. My research is focused on the piano transcriptions of the contemporary orchestral scores.
- How much do you charge?
Standard fee is £40 for a lesson. Consultation lesson is £35. Additional charge for lessons outside Zones 1-2, depending on the distance/type of travel.
- Where do you teach?
Hammersmith, Kensington, West and South-West London, also Central London. Teaching at students' homes.
- When are you available?
Weekdays in the evening (excluding Mondays) and weekends (Saturdays in the afternoon and evening times, all day Sundays), generally flexible but prefer advance bookings.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Teaching children of all ages and adults.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM syllabus: providing courses for students in all Grades also DipABRSM and beyond.
