About Marta
- What kind of experience do you have?
All throughout university - from 2007 to 2012 - I've been tutoring students between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. My main focus has been Maths, although I have also taught Biology.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, it's a requirement for undergoing a PhD in a hospital campus.

My name is Marta and I'm a PhD student at Imperial College London. I am a Biomedical Engineer and I'm very enthusiastic about convincing people that learning is one of the most exciting things in our reach.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Biology and Maths.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I joined the University of Coimbra in Portugal in 2007 to study Biomedical Engineering for my undergraduate studies. Later on I did a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering as well, specializing in Imaging and Radiation. In 2013 I joined Imperial College London to do a PhD in Bioengineering - more specifically doing cancer research.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £30/hour.
- Where do you teach?
I live in Balham, however I'm happy to travel to meet students, whether in their homes or in a public place as convenient.
- When are you available?
I'm available in the evenings on weekdays (after 7 pm), and whole-day on weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach GCSE and A-level (students between 11 and 18 years-old).
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I am a methodical and detail-oriented person, able to explain complex subjects resorting to inventive and fun analogies. Over the past years I've had very good feedback from my students who were left off with better grades!
