- I believe lessons should be fun, varied and interactive but also aimed at a level which will push the student to achieve their potential.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I am a qualified teacher of English as a Foreign Language and I specialise in Academic English and exam preparation for PET, FCE, CAE and IELTS. I also teach French and Italian from beginner level up to GCSE.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a TEFL Diploma (now know as a DELTA), a BA Hons in French and Italian, a PGCE to teach French and Italian and a Masters in Education Studies.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I taught EFL in language schools in Europe for several years after my degree and I was an EFL teacher in a Hong Kong secondary school for 12 years. After qualifying with my PGCE I taught French and Italian in a secondary school in Bristol to GCSE and A Level. While in Hong Kong I worked for over 7 years as an examiner for the Hong Kong Exams Authority and examined oral and written papers for the Hong Kong certificate exam in English. I was also an oral examiner at the British Council in Hong Kong for 4 years. More recently I have been teaching international students who are preparing to enter British university courses helping them with academic English and study skills such as essay writing and presentation skills.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £20 per hour. Rates for groups are negotiable. I prefer to do consultation via email or on the phone beforehand whenever possible.
- Where do you teach?
- I live on the outskirts of Bristol, 5 miles from Clifton and 8 miles from Portishead close to the M5 motorway. I can teach lessons at my home or at the student's home as long as it is within reasonable travelling distance (about 15-20 minutes by car). If I have to travel outside Bristol I would charge extra to cover travel time and expenses.
- When are you available?
- I have some availability during the day Monday to Friday. Lessons could also be arranged in the early evenings from Monday to Wednesday.

- I teach teenagers and adults from beginner to advanced level in EFL. I teach from beginner up to GCSE in French and Italian.

GCSE in French or Italian.
I can also help with essay writing, proof reading and presentation skills for academic studies. - Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have an up to date CRB.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- A consultation via email or phone would be the starting point to establish the student's needs. Ideally the lessons would consist of weekly phone conversations and I would give regular feedback of written work submitted online. Students would also be directed to online language practice.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I am a member of the IFL - an organisation for lecturers in further education.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- Chichester College (TEFL diploma), Portsmouth University (BA), York University (PGCE), Sheffield University (MEd),
- Tell me about some of your current students.
