- 15 years of live performing experience, appearing on national BBC1 television and playing at venues such as The Shepherd's Bush Empire and Millennium Dome.
10 years teaching experience having over 65 grade passes with all students attaining over 70% and never having a pupil fail an examination. I have also taught a number of students who have special needs with great results in terms of improvement in confidence and coordination. - How much do you charge?
- I charge £25 per hour for drum lessons and £20 per hour for theory lessons. I charge extra if you wish to take drum lessons at your home and this depends on where you live and how far it is away from where I am based. All lesson prices include teaching handouts.
- Where do you teach?
- I currently live in Kent in Hythe which is near to Folkestone. I teach at my home where I have a teaching studio. I can travel to surrounding towns if you would prefer to have the lessons at your home, this will mean a moderate additional charge because of travel expenses. I would also recommend being taught at my studio as I have all my teaching equipment and vast amounts of media for reference use. On a weekly basis I am in Brentwood Essex and so I also teach there if you are based near this area and would like to study with me.

Simon Strong - Do you have a personal message for students?
- There are many myths to do with practice, such as practice makes perfect. This is in-fact wrong, all that practice does is make permanent and so to have effective practice and not waste your time you need to make sure you are practising correctly.

My Testimonials
|
Matt is clearly dedicated to my progress and success, and I have seen myself improve greatly under his tuition, more so than other drummers I know have with their own teachers. If it was not for his own passionate attitude towards the drums, I would not be as committed to or enjoy playing the drums as much as I do now, so thank you Matt! - Alex Pattle |

Matt has a friendly and relaxed, yet confident, style of tutoring, and while he will quickly assess your weaknesses and your strengths he will also give you the confidence and understanding to help you improve. One of his strengths is technique and consequently my own technique has greatly improved and I feel much more comfortable in my own ability as a result. If you’re looking for a new drum tutor, Look no further than Matt. I’ve been with him for about 4 years now and I am a better drummer for it. - Steve Duffy |
