What kind of experience do you have?
As a professional teacher I have experience in both one to one teaching and outreach work including 'Animate Orchestra'. I am happy to teach group lessons as well. I have studied professional teaching as part of my degree at Trinity College of Music, London and have thoroughly enjoyed this. More recently, I have taught abroad in India on my travels, helping young students in a charity run school in Mysore.
As a composer, I have had pieces of mine performed by myself and others across Britain as well as having a composition published with NWJazzworks ltd. Most recently, a composition for a large mixed ensemble was premiered at the British Film Institute as well as a piano minature performed on Benjamin Britten's grand piano in Covent Garden.
As a professional musician I have played in orchestras, bigbands and various ensembles all over Britain at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, MEN Arena, Bridgewater Hall and Matt and Phreds jazz club. In my personally led small band I have performed at most of the major jazz clubs in Britain as well some notable functions including the 'Coronation Street' end of year party and a Labour party conference.
How much do you charge?
My teaching rates are £30 per hourly session. I am more than willing to negotiate discount rates for group lessons too.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my own house in Queens Park as well as students' homes throughout London, preferably in the areas of North, North/West and West London.
When are you available?
I teach throughout the day, evenings and weekends. I can also teach in most school holidays depending on availablity. Please contact me for further details.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
My training has eqiupped me to teach young students from the age of 5 and above. I am just as comfortable teaching adults, and have performed and taught in outreach projects with adult learners most notably at CityLit institute of adult learning in London. Moreover, I have participated charitable work in retirement homes and hospitals. I help to prepare students who wish to take graded exams from grade 1 up to diploma. I am also more than happy to aid students who just want to play for fun and not take exams - as might be likely for students wanting to learn jazz and pop.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am happy to prepare students for all graded examinations (grades 1-8) and any audition preparation they may require.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
My CRB is currently pending.
