About Mike
I have over twenty years of peripatetic piano teaching experience of all abilities and ages from 7-70, in a variety of musical styles and syllabuses (ABRSM etc).
As a performer I have over twenty years of professional experience in a variety of situations, from symphony orchestra to solo piano, across Australia, the Caribbean, UK and Europe. For five years I was assistant musical director on 'Thriller Live' in London's West End and have worked as a piano player on various other musical theatre shows including Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Stephen Ward, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and others.
I also hold a current DBS Certificate and am a member of the UK Musicians' Union.

If you're looking for a highly adaptable, hard-working, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher, committed to bringing students to their full potential through a relaxed, positive and enjoyable approach, then you've come to the right place!
Many different musical styles are available including Classical, Jazz, Latin, Pop, Jazz Theory and Composition, Advanced Aural Training, Theory and Musicianship.
My tertiary qualification is a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Piano) 1st Class Honours completed at Australian National University, Canberra
My standard teaching fee is £40 an hour, and my preferred teaching situation is via video call online, though I am also able to teach at student's homes in Battersea.
As of June 2020, my current availability is Tuesdays and Fridays and potentially weekend daytimes.
I am currently teaching ages 7-70, beginner to advanced in ABRSM, Trinity and Guildhall syllabuses, Prep Test to Post Grade 8.
Each student's learning needs are highly individual, and so I believe the way to achieve the best results is to create the circumstances in which the student can learn for themselves, and which inspire the student to continue learning throughout their later lives.
