Tell me about your qualifications.
I am a qualified teacher and hold a Teacher's Certificate with distinction in the Practice of Education.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have 30 years of classroom experience, mostly in Key Stage 2, currently in Year 6, and 20 years as a private tutor, covering an age range from 5 to 16 years.
How much do you charge?
I charge £25 an hour - all books and writing materials provided free of charge.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my own home, which is in the village of Wolston, 4 miles to the south east of Coventry. This is within easy travelling distance of Rugby, Leamington Spa and Warwick.
When are you available?
I teach in the evenings from Monday to Friday (4.30 - 7.30pm) and on Saturdays (9.30 - 4.30pm). I have some vacancies available at the moment. Lessons during school holidays are more flexible and parents are free to request times they find convenient. Lessons missed are not charged.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Maths, English and Science - Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.
Secondary Selection to all local Private Schools.
11+ and 13+ to Grammar Schools.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I have a current CRB disclosure certificate.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the General Teaching Council and the National Union of Teachers.
Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at Padgate College of Education, University of Manchester.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently have students for home tuition studying for a variety of examinations including 11+ for the Rugby Grammar Schools, 11+ for Warwick School, 11+ for Bablake and Henry VIII Schools in Coventry, Year 6 SATS, GCSE Maths and Students with Special Educational Needs.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I like to teach sympathetically, building students' confidence in their own ability through encouragement and praise. I believe that 1 to 1 tuition gives every child a better chance.
